Our school recently participated in a mock voting activity, organized by our fourth and fifth graders as part of their social studies unit. As part of the project, all students and staff had the opportunity to cast their votes for their favorite design for the State of Maine flag. It was a fantastic hands-on experience, and the results were impressive! Our students predicted the state results with remarkable accuracy, with their vote percentages closely matching those of the actual voting outcome. This activity provided a great opportunity for students to engage with the democratic process, learn about civic participation, and make connections to real-world events. Thank you to our fourth and fifth graders for organizing such a meaningful and fun learning experience!

We had a successful Fall Family Night and Book Fair event this week, with over 208 people in attendance. It was great to see so many of you there! A special thank you to all of our families, PTC, Title 1 staff and volunteers for making our evening book fair and family night event such a success!

This award is a tribute to those outstanding individuals who embody the qualities of a true “Model Mustang”; they inspire, lead, foster positivity, persevere, and excel in all that they do. Each Model Mustang was nominated by colleagues who took the time to acknowledge and celebrate their coworkers’ exceptional contributions to our district. Last week was Fire Safety Week. This is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about fire prevention and safety measures. This week served as an important reminder for our learners and community to prioritize fire safety at school and in their homes. By promoting education and preparedness, we hope to reduce the risk of fire-related incidents by ensuring everyone knows how to respond in emergencies. Thank you to our local Shapleigh Fire Department for coming and educating our learners this past week!
RSU 57, in collaboration with Massabesic High School, will be hosting a Community Forum on Thursday, October 10 at 6:30pm on the topic "Addressing Student Mental Health and Social-Emotional Well-Being". All RSU 57 students, parents, guardians, families, staff and community members are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!
