Dear RSU 57 Community, Today marks an exciting milestone as all 2,910 students across RSU 57 returned to school. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students, along with those in grades 10-12, began their first day of the 2024-2025 school year today. Our dedicated staff are thrilled to welcome both new and returning learners into our schools and classrooms. As we ease into the new school year, we ask for your patience with our transportation department. Our youngest learners, particularly our 4 and 5-year-old students, are still getting accustomed to boarding and exiting school buses and vehicles safely. We anticipate that elementary bus runs may be slightly delayed over the next three days as we assist these students during this transition. Your cooperation and understanding are essential to ensuring a smooth and safe experience for everyone. Finally, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all the students, families, and caregivers who attended our annual school open houses last week. Your involvement is invaluable as we work together to prepare our students for success in an ever-changing world. Dear RSU 57 Community, I am pleased to introduce Mrs. Danielle Prosser as our new Assistant Principal/SEL Coach at Line Elementary School. Mrs. Prosser most recently served as the lead teacher of the Behavior program at Lyman Elementary School, where she worked with students with emotional and behavioral needs utilizing a trauma informed lens in her practice. She has been instrumental in supporting students to develop coping skills to enable them to access the general education curriculum to the best of their abilities. Her role involved working closely with the school social worker to develop and implement behavior support plans, supporting general education staff in implementing these plans, and assisting the principal in school-wide behavioral support initiatives. Mrs. Prosser's educational journey includes earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Exercise Science from the University of New England, a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Her academic achievements reflect her dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. Mrs. Prosser's candidacy went through a rigorous screening process prior to being selected to move forward to the initial rounds of interviews. She emerged as the consensus top choice of an interview committee of seven, which was comprised of Line School staff members, a school administrator and a RSU 57 school board member. The final stage of the process included reference checks and an interview with Dr. Marquis, confirming Mrs. Prosser as the ideal candidate for this role. As the new Assistant Principal/SEL Coach at Line Elementary School, Mrs. Prosser will be instrumental in advancing our district's goals. She will foster a collaborative and inclusive environment by actively engaging with students, staff, and parents. Mrs. Prosser's rich background in education, combined with her passion for student welfare ensures she will be a transformative force in our community, dedicated to the success and well-being of every student at Line Elementary School. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Danielle Prosser to the Line School community. Dear RSU 57 Community, I am pleased to introduce Mr. Jeremie Sirois as our new Principal of the Line Elementary School. Mr. Sirois joins us with a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to student-centered educational practices. Mr. Sirois most recently served as the Principal of Kennebunk High School, where he collaborated with teachers to create a respectful and welcoming school environment, mentored and coached teachers on effective teaching methods, and built strong communication lines with students, parents and guardians. Prior to his tenure at Kennebunk High School, Mr. Sirois held the position of Principal at Biddeford High School, where he coordinated a wide range of school improvement efforts and set policies and practices ensuring student safety and security. With 19 years of experience in educational leadership, Mr. Sirois brings a deep understanding of school administration, curriculum implementation, and student-centered leadership. Mr. Sirois’ educational journey includes earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of New England, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership from St. Joseph’s College of Maine. His academic achievements reflect his dedication to continuous learning and professional growth. Mr. Sirois’ candidacy went through a rigorous screening process that included six district administrators, who unanimously moved him forward from a pool of candidates to the interview round. He emerged as the consensus top choice of an interview committee of ten, which was comprised of Line School staff members, district administrators, school board members, and parents. The final stage of the process included reference checks and an interview with Dr. Marquis, confirming Mr. Sirois as the ideal candidate for this role. As the new Principal of Line Elementary School, Mr. Sirois will play a pivotal role in support of the district's future initiatives. He will engage respectfully and openly with stakeholders to ensure our district mission of preparing students for success in an ever-changing world remains at the heart of the educational experience for the students of Line Elementary School. His extensive experience, inspiring vision, and unwavering commitment to always doing what is best for students make him an outstanding addition to our district. SAVE THE DATES! RSU 57 is proud to offer free groceries and toiletries through Youth Full Maine this summer! Products include fresh veggies, breads, milks, canned goods and personal hygiene items. Available items vary and are first come first serve. Distribution will take place from 11am-12pm on June 24, July 29 and August 19 from 11am-12pm at the Massabesic East Building. Please bring your own bags for this drive-up food pantry.

Last night, the RSU 57 School Board recognized two staff members and a group of students for their recent achievements in athletics. Athletic Director Daniel Lawrence presented MMS Phys Ed Teacher and Baseball Coach Tom Crews with a certificate of acknowledgement for his recent recognition as Class A Baseball Coach of the Year. Coach Crews led the Boys Baseball Team through a 9-7 season, which qualified them for the playoffs for the for the first time since 1989. Mr. Lawrence also presented MHS Wrestling Coach Joe Eon with a certificate for his acceptance into the Maine Amateur Wrestling Alliance Class of 2024 Hall of Fame. Coach Eon had an outstanding wrestling career during his time as a student at MHS and this year, he led the Wrestling Team to victory for a Class A State Championship Win. The Hall of Fame Induction ceremony will be held in August. Finally, Mr. Lawrence invited Jennifer Blair, MHS Math Teacher and Boys Track Coach to present certificates to student-athletes, who proudly received the MPA Class A Boys South Outdoor Track Sportsmanship Award this Spring. Congratulations to our outstanding RSU 57 student-athletes and coaches!

As a reminder, tomorrow, Wednesday June 12, is the last day of school and an early release day for students. MMS/MHS dismissal is at 11:00am and Elementary is at 12:15pm. Thank you.
