Good evening,
Yesterday the Maine Principals Association (MPA) released a statement pertaining to high school athletics and activities. In this release, the MPA indicated a change in the community advisory color coding system. Previously, any county identified as “green” could meet in person for activities including competitions between schools. If designated “yellow or red” schools were not allowed to have in person gatherings or competitions for any activities. The change released yesterday by the MPA states that the designations are removed for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. It is not yet clear how this will be interpreted by other agencies and we anticipate there will be further communication regarding this over the next few days.
This past fall, the RSU 57 Board of Directors agreed, by consensus vote, that we would engage in co-curricular activities if York County was designated “green” and would not if York County was “yellow or red,” following state guidelines. The Board will be reviewing this information and determining their position at the next Board of Directors meeting.
We are prepared to begin in-person activities when it is locally determined to do so. Students are encouraged to check on their current eligibility status. We certainly understand the importance of these programs to our students and our community and will provide updates as pertinent information becomes available.
Thank you for the continued support.

Good evening,
This notice is to inform you that Massabesic Middle School has been designated as an outbreak site for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). An outbreak means that there are three or more cases of COVID-19 within a 14-day period that are epidemiologically linked.
The cases that prompted outbreak status are related to individuals who tested positive over vacation or were not in school. Because of this, we have been advised by Maine CDC that this designation does not close school or affect in-person learning at MMS.
To see the MMS community letter, please visit the RSU 57 website news section. Please continue to monitor for symptoms daily prior to arriving at school and be in contact with your school nurse with any questions regarding health or travel.

Additionally, LINE Elementary School, Lyman Elementary School, and Massabesic Middle School have had positive cases of COVID-19. All impacted families and staff are being notified and have initiated their quarantine, per Maine CDC guidelines.

Good afternoon students, staff, and families,
This notice is to inform you that an individual at Massabesic High School has tested positive for COVID19. Close contacts include staff at Massabesic High School. Individuals affected have been notified and have initiated quarantine per Maine CDC guidelines.
Due to staffing implications, it is necessary to move Massabesic High School to full remote learning beginning tomorrow, Monday, January 4th through Friday, January 8th. We will publish an update status report at the end of next week. You will be receiving an email from our Nutrition Office that will guide you in requesting meals for pick up.
We urge everyone to continue to observe the CDC guidelines in returning from the holiday break. If you have traveled out of state or are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please email your school nurse before returning to school. If you have traveled in non-exempt states and you have opted to test out of quarantine, please email your test results to your school nurse prior to returning to school.
Your continued support and vigilance in these important health matters is necessary in keeping our schools open to in-person learning, as well as, ensuring the health and safety of our staff, students and community.
Stay Well!
