Yesterday, several MHS Seniors currently attending Sanford Regional Technical Center participated in a round-table discussion to reflect on their learning and experiences in various vocational programs. Student and administrative representatives were present from other York County schools including Traip, York, Wells, Thornton, Kennebunk, Sanford, Noble, and Marshwood. Students eagerly shared feedback about their experiences at SRTC; leading conversations about the application process, the overall quality of their learning, and their level of preparedness for entering post-secondary education programs. Pictured below is a photo of some MHS Senior representatives with Superintendent Stephen Marquis, RSU 57 School Board Chair Jodi Laine and MHS Principal Ty Thurlow.

Let's congratulate Massabesic Center for Adult Learning's newest graduate, Sarah! Sarah has worked hard and scored 'College Ready' in three subjects. We can't wait to celebrate her achievements at MCAL's Graduation ceremony in June. Well done, Sarah! If you or someone you know needs their high school credential, give MCAL a call at 207-247-2022 to set up an appointment with a Student Advisor.

Ms. Grahams' 3rd grade class at Alfred Elementary has been learning about medieval life and fairy tales. They created and practiced a puppet show based on a retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Students created their puppets in art class, helped to prepare their set, and practiced for their performance. Many grade levels were able to attend!

4/10/23 Dear RSU 57 Community, This afternoon at approximately 3:15, school staff were notified of a domestic violence situation in the town of Alfred. Out of an abundance of caution, York County Sheriff’s advised all surrounding schools and public offices to activate a hold in place. As such, we responded by canceling all after-school activities and sporting events at MHS and brought students into the building to await pickup. At this time, we are asking all caregivers to come to the MHS main entrance to pick up their children if they were attending after-school activities on campus. Students who have their own cars will be dismissed shortly for their return home following the dismissal of all pickups. Visiting teams have returned or are en route to their sending districts. As always, student and staff safety is our first priority, and something we take very seriously. We appreciate the prompt communication to RSU57 by the Sheriff’s Office in responding to this domestic matter in Alfred. We will continue to be forthcoming with our community about the details of this situation should anything change and we appreciate your support. Best, Stephen D. Marquis Superintendent of School

Today, Massabesic High School held a Career Fair to encourage students to think about their plans after high school and the steps they need to take in order to reach their goals. Students had the opportunity to engage with thirty-eight businesses which represented careers in engineering, manufacturing, education, government, the military, and more. Students represented MHS well as they asked inquisitive questions and had meaningful conversations about future career opportunities. Thank you to all of the vendors and their representatives who attended today’s event, as well as the Career & College Readiness PLC and our students for making the event a success! You can view more images of today’s Career Fair by following the link below! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE6_WITPTJo
